# Getting Started - Dark Future Core

{% hint style="danger" %}
This page is for **Dark Future Core**, the streamlined version of Dark Future. For the full version, please see [this page](/getting-started-dark-future.md).
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:yellow;">What is Dark Future Core?</mark>

**Dark Future Core** is a simplified version of Dark Future for those who are looking for a simple, stable, relatively bug-free, high-performance survival system that is mechanically in line with Fallout New Vegas' "Hardcore Mode". In general, Dark Future Core is more accepting of the base game as CDPR designed it as it relates to consumables, with an added layer of survival gameplay on top.\
\
The reduced code and simplicity may lead to improved performance and FPS for some users who have trouble running the full version of Dark Future. Note that Dark Future (full) has had a number of significant performance improvements published very recently.\
\
My development time continues to be focused on the full version of Dark Future. This mod will **not** receive new features, features unique to Core, or changes beyond what has already been published. It will always be a strict subset of Dark Future. At this time, you can consider Dark Future Core to be feature complete.\
\
That said, as bug fixes and enhancements are made to the full version of Dark Future's systems and codebase, those fixes and enhancements will be merged with Core on an ongoing basis if they are a Core feature.

<mark style="color:yellow;">FOR TRANSLATORS:</mark> Dark Future and Dark Future Core utilize the same localization file. Any up-to-date translation of Dark Future will function as a fully-functional translation for Dark Future Core. For localization details, please see [this page](https://wiki.darkfuture2077.com/for-translators).
